Indigenous Cardiac Outreach Program (ICOP)

The Indigenous Cardiac Outreach Program (ICOP) offers culturally safe, specialist cardiac care in community. Delivered by The Prince Charles Hospital, this outreach service supports early detection, treatment, and management of heart conditions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

This program includes:

  • Chronic cardiac disease management and support

  • Access to echocardiogram (ECHO) and electrocardiogram (ECG) testing

  • Ongoing treatment and care planning

  • Referrals to other health providers for wrap-around care

  • Culturally appropriate education and resources to support heart health

Indigenous Respiratory Outreach Care (IROC)

Delivered by The Prince Charles Hospital, the Indigenous Respiratory Outreach Care (IROC) program provides culturally safe respiratory health services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This outreach service supports early detection, ongoing care, and education to strengthen lung health in our community.

Services include:

  • Lung health checks

  • Chronic lung disease management and treatment

  • Ongoing care and monitoring

  • Referrals to other health services for comprehensive support

Hearing Australia

Hearing Australia delivers comprehensive hearing services for both adults and children in our community. Free hearing checks for adults are available at the Bidgerdii Wellness Hub, with professional assessments and referrals provided as needed.

For children, the HAPEE (Hearing Assessment Program – Early Ears) focuses on early detection of hearing issues in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. This program is delivered at the Rockhampton Children & Family Centre and plays a vital role in supporting healthy development in speech, language, and learning.

Services include:

  • Hearing checks for adults and children

  • Audiology assessments and specialist referrals

  • HAPEE Ears Program for early childhood hearing assessments

  • Education on hearing health and prevention

  • Ongoing monitoring and support

The Eye Van visits regional hubs regularly, providing:
