Our Elders Care Support Team is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Elders in our community.

Through focused engagement and meaningful social connection, we strive to ensure each Elder feels valued, supported, and connected in all aspects of life.

This program offers tailored support that respects the role and wisdom of our Elders, promoting their wellbeing and active involvement and connection in community life.

Elders Supports

The Elders Care Support Program provides a range of services to meet the needs of our Elders, including:

  • My Aged Care Connector: Assistance with navigating My Aged Care services.
  • My Aged Care Support Coordination: Support to coordinate care plans and access appropriate services.

Our team is here to help each Elder find the resources, services, and support that best suit their needs, to foster independence and holistic wellbeing.

Elders Social Groups

Supporting our Elders in Community

Our Elders Social Groups bring Elders together for social activities, cultural connection, and friendship.

  • Rockhampton: Weekly gatherings every Wednesday.

  • Mt Morgan: Fortnightly catch-ups with meaningful activities and connection.

  • Blackwater: Fortnightly meetings offering social support and community connection.

These groups provide a safe and welcoming space for Elders to share stories, build friendships, and engage in cultural activities that honour and celebrate their important role in community.

We offer:

Craft & Sewing Group

  • A creative space to learn, share skills, and enjoy time together

Dementia Support

  • Providing guidance, understanding, and connection for those impacted by dementia and their families.

Suicide Prevention

  • A safe space for awareness, support, and wellbeing.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid Course

  • A culturally appropriate course designed to equip community with skills to support an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander adult who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis. These skills can assist in supporting mob until professional assistance is received, or the crisis resolves.

How to Access Our Support

To access the program:

  1. Our Elder Care Support Team can assess your needs, advocate on your behalf, and help you navigate and access Elder Services.
  2. For further information on the Elders Support Program, please call the Wellness Hub on 1800 224 700 (press #3) or email: escp@bidgerdii.org for further assistance.
  3. Transport is available for eligible clients to attend Wellness Hub Programs & Services.
